The Gondola Ride

At Park City, where we stayed we got to ride on a gondola, the kids loved it. The view was breath taking. It made me somewhat miss the Mountains.

The Hogle Zoo

Hogle Zoo in Ut. We had so much fun, it was way better then the Dinosaur Museum. The Zoo just happen to have a dinosaur theme, and have extremely huge robotic dinosaurs that moved and spit at you. My kids loved it! And of course the other animals were great too. It was also sad to say the first time they have soft served ice cream, since Karlie's always been allergic to it. A perfect day :).

We got to go with Uncle Jake (my brother) the Largest Dinosaur museum, it had so many gigantic bones, I loved it, the kids got bored of it, lucky they had fun stuff for the kids to do. Find a dinosaur bones in the sand. They also got to go their very first 3-D Dinosaur movie, which they liked, a little to educational on the people hunting bones, but oh well. The best part of course is spending time with Uncle Jake.

Nathan's Pirate Birthday Party

Nathan Birthday was such a blast this year. I love doing themes. I told them them that to become great pirates you had to pass some tests. The tests were, Musical Islands-they had to jump from one island to another without touching the sea, and of course with the music stop the one that didn't have and island was out. We did Carrying Treasure race, had them hold big balloons full of water, they had to run up the hill as a race with out dropping their treasure. Another ones were Throwing the bomb in the the other ship, Pin the X on the map, and of course a great and amazing Treasure Hunt. The Prize was there pirate gear and some loot. I spent so much time planning games, and stuff, I was wore out, so I did Ice Cream Sandwiches and turn them islands. Not my best but, they still turned out cute.

Can't believe my little boy is so big. They did a great job of singing, and they did a little show. But favorite part is when the kids tell what they want to be when the grow up. Some what to be superheros, princesses, and Nathan wants to only be a dad. Which I love.

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms!
I so far have had a great one. I woke up to pots banging, and hoping Karlie wasn't trying to cook something on her own. But when they did finally beg me to come down at 6:30am, so much for sleeping in, Karlie and Nathan had made me a great breakfast of peanut butter and honey sandwiches and a mango that looked like they had try to cut it with a butter knife. It was supper cute, and of course their gifts from school were great, Karlie made me a picture and a pin, Nathan a cookie mix.
But from all the kids they each got me a bush! What am I going to do with bushes in a townhouse. I don't know. They are so beautiful, one is a bush with tons of big purple flowers, the next one has red roses on it, and the last has lily's on it.
I told J.R. earlier in the week to take the kids and get some flowers for my little pots out side the front door. And I guess he just took them to Lowes and said pick your favorite. So now I'm stuck with 4' to 6' plants. Were to put them.......

It so fun be close to fun things. So for a date our friends gave us, to a play in NYC. Lombardi on Broadway , it's about the a Green Bay Packer Coach. We had awesome seats second row. Spit was spraying on us. It had the mom on Who's the Boss, and Ugly Betty, her name Judy Light, and it had Dan Lauria from Wonder Years. GReat Play!

Daddy Daughter Dance

J.R. and Karlie was so excited to go to this dance. They got their somewhat matching clothes on. But once they go there. Karlie was like, see ya, I don't need you anymore. J.R. was crushed, he kept trying to track her down, for at least one dance. She said she had more important things to do than to dance with her dad. J.R. came home heart broken, they were there 3 hours, and not once did she dance with him. The poor guy just hung out on the wall the entire time. We expected this at maybe at 10years old, but not at six.

It always surprises me how time flies. My little girl is six. She has grow up so pretty, with still a love life attitude. She has loved Kindergarten, she has had so many "cute boyfriends". Her new little friend, got a new hair cut, she was so sad because he had got rid of his Mohawk. She loved the mohawk on him because it made him different. She just loves everyone and she always points out the postive in everyone. Happy Birthday little girl.

So now that he's two, we have began to potty train, he's just like Nathan was, super easy. So far so good. I still feel bad for potty training Karlie at 18 months it was alot rougher for her. Gavin's Two! Well a couple of months ago, I really need to be better at posting. That you can get your blog made into a book. I just had my 2007 year done and it turned out great. So, I need to be better so that book doesn't skip around.
Anyway, Gavin had a wonderful birthday, we had some of his friends over for a play-date small but good.

Nathan's first Crush

We were at Walmart yesterday, and this little girl from Nathans preschool class, came up to him and said "Hello, Nathan". He runs away and hides in a different isle. When I get to him, he crying. I try to come calm him down, and make him go say hi back. This little girl has been in his class for two years now, and they only have a total of 8 kids in his class. So I didn't understand why he was so scared. I thought maybe she had been mean to him, since I know he's so sensitive. But he hid behind me and refused to say Hi. Later that night I finally found out why. J.R. comes home, and I told him the story, he goes up to Nathan and ask him if he thought she was cute and Nathan starts crying and says, "She's so Beautiful!".
I can't believe my four year old, is already shy over a girl.

A little bit of Christmas

I'll post more of Christmas later. I just didn't want to forget, these moments.
So Karlie goes down stairs to see what Santa gave her, she runs up stairs and wakes us up. "Santa came and guess what he brought me, a toothbrush!!" she was so excited. I was laughing so hard. She didn't care about the toys or all the stocking stuff, just the toothbrush that turns off and on. I couldn't believe it.

Another moment of Karlie was, we were Skyping J.R.'s family. They ask if she had been good so Santa could come and she said, "No, I was totally bad, but he still came, I told my mom he would." Santa probably should have brought her coal.

Bears in NJ

It's been a fun year here with bears. Tons of my friends have had black bears coming in and out of their back yards. Finally this month they let hunters go in and hunt them. I'm not sure how I feel, since we are cutting down their homes for our million dollar houses and huge yards, nobody ever plays in or uses, just for looks. Anyway the hunters hunted down 589 bears in our county! I didn't realize we had that many by us.

Touch a Truck

Our favorite town even of the year. I think I counted at least 30 different kinds of trucks where there. They let the kids sit in them, honk the horns, spray the water, and etc.... Gavin this year loved the garbage truck. At our house every Wednesday we watch 40 townhouses get their garbage picked up. 2 hours of my day gone...but he loves it, and next he'll be in preschool and this moment gone. Karlie loved the book mobile. Nathan loved everything.

Halloween

What a great holiday, my favorite in fact. It's fun, and not stressful. And here in NJ there is so much to do all month. We went to our Grocery stores party, library's, halloween parades at the outlet stores. We still haven't ventured up to ghost towns, the headless horse mans town, or to Salem, Mass. But we plan on doing it next year.

Gavin's loves Choo....Choo..trains. So while Grandma and Auntie was visiting we decided to take a choo...choo...train ride. It was on a 200 year old train from the 1800's. It was rusty but still ran well. It dropped us off on a farm that was a big corn maze. Then they gave us some treasure coins for food, hot chocolate, and toys. So fun!

I was watching PBS. And some Billionaire was talking about how he runs company.
The interesting part was he did a, what if question? That made me think
The question was
Parents train there kids starting around age 2 to share and be kind to others.
(Which is something I'm working really hard on with Gavin now)
But as a Nation and most other Countries around 5th grade we start teaching our kids to, to be the best in class, sports etc.. to get A's, to score the highest on tests, SATS, to raise above others.

What if we started in 5th grade to continue to teach them to share and be kind to others and to be equal and help others get better along with us.
Would everyone be happier, better team work, would we get more done, would we all be better as a society?

Grow a Row Program

We had so much fun, our County has a Grow a Row Program, which is a garden for the food bank. So Labor day we decided not to just hang out, but teach our kid to do good for others. So we went to the garden and spent over 2 hours picking beans. I was so surprised that my kids lasted that long and helped out so much. And I was surprised how much they loved it.

Karlie's First Day of School

Karlie was so excited for the first day, and so was I. She mostly plays with boys, her brothers, all the neighbors are boys, and she has 10 kids in her church class and she's the only girl! So I thought this was a good chance for her to meet other girls. Wrong, there are 20 kids in her class and only 4 girls and the other kindergarten class has 20 with only 3 girls. Something was in the water here that year.
We are lucky though we got the best kindergarten teacher in the County. Everywhere I go people ask me who she got, and said wow your lucky. Even Nathan's preschool teachers all said that Karlie's teacher has gotten tons of awards.
Her homework everyday is so fun! We go on walks, and do such creative work. She believes in being activity and not sitting down doing worksheets. So she's prefect for Karlie.

Our camping trip

We were so excited for this trip, we hadn't camped all year. We went to Delaware River which is just gorgeous! But the first night we got there, it rain and rain (I think that it rains every time we go) so we had to put of the tent in the pouring rain, and start a fire, which didn't work to will, but of course the kids didn't care they loved it. We also had some guest, come the first time, a fox, a raccoon, rabbit, but lucky no bears, bears are pretty known here so we were lucky.

Some of our friends joy us up for camping. Lucky them they missed all of the rain. IT was a blast to have them with us, we played tons of games, but the best part is just hanging around the camp fire.

We loved the Delaware River, its so warm, and it had millions of clams at the bottom that all the kids loved collecting.

Gavin loved sitting by the Delaware River and painting rocks, he did it most of the morning.

The only picture I got of them (Luke and Nathan) roasting marshmallows by the fire.

On our way home, our GPS for some weird reason gave us the wrong directions and we realized it to late and got lost. Good thing we still kept good old maps in our car, to help us get out of the mess.

Sesame Place

I was so lucky! I won Sesame Place Tickets, they were worth $54. each. We had such a great time, though I must admit, it wasn't worth the money if I did had to pay. Super crowded and they made you sit over 15 minutes in line just to do the lazy river and then you could only go around once, then they made you get out.
But the shows were great we went to 4 of them. My kids enjoyed them, but they were a little to old for them.

Karlie, was trying to show off on her bike. Since this summer she's been riding great with only two wheels. She decided to do some tricks, like the older neighbor kids. But then she fell head first off her bike, we are lucky that she only had to get stitches.

The 2010 Balloon Festival

We were so lucky to have a chance to go to our Balloon Festival by our house. Our friends gave us tickets, for J.R.'s graduation. The Festival had magic shows and forty balloons went up. Here are some pics of our favorites.
It's fun to live here, hot air balloons are a constant in the sky. We had just last night two air balloons land close to our back yard. They let the little kids jump on them to get the air out and they help roll it up. So much fun.

We were so blessed to have My Uncle and Aunt and cousins come visit, while J.R.'s dad was here too. We hoped onto a ferry and visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. While we were at Ellis Island, they had the Barbie from all over the World showing. So we got to see Barbie's from all over and Karlie got to pose as one.
They all were so cute, except Brazil's she had almost no clothes on.

Nathan's Big Bug Blast Party

We had so much fun, we had 20 kids, I'm so grateful for some of my friends that stayed to help.
I had a bug hunt, I put plastic bugs all over the yard and had them pretend they were other bugs trying find other bugs to eat. They had a blast finding them. Then we had to be ants and learn to be gentle to carry our food home. So I had them carry big balloons that were filled with water and had a race. Then we did a stop and go, but instead of running we had to act like a bug that was called out.
After that we had fun playing in the water, slip n slide and pool. Nathan was so happy.

To go long with the bugs/ worm theme. We had dirt and bugs/worm cupcakes and cake.

J.R.'s new job

J.R. got a job here in NJ. Working with Dr. Fuhrman M.D. who is a Disease Prevention Specialist. J.R. loves his job, he works with patients only 3 days a week and only one an hour. The other two days his working on research and typing up book. His job is only 9:30am to 5:30pm. and has no call and no weekends. We are so very lucky.

Graduation!! Finally!

After 7 long years of medical school and residency. It's finally over. J.R. is the most excited his been going to school for 12 years counting college (undergrad).
It's been long, but well worth it, I think.... Our family I believe is closer because of it. We had to push ourselves to the limit plus give a little more to help the other person. We are so happy. J.R. had a wonderful Residency Class they all got along and had fun together.
He also got the teacher/service award of the year! We are so proud.

J.R.'s dad flew out for his graduation from Residency. It was so fun to have him visit and spend sometime with him. I think it's been over a year since that last time we spent time with him.

Fun day at the Library

Our Library system here in NJ is great. They have kept us busy all summer long. 2 twice a week story time (we only made to one a week) craft days, and every Thursday a fun event, like bubble man, a petting zoo, music, etc...
These pictures are of an event were they talk about reptiles, J.R.'s dad actually came to visit us and took them to it. I didn't go I'll I would have more to tell you about the pictures. I did learn from the kids that the turtle shell has feeling and when you tickle the top of his shell he wiggles around.

The Crayola Factory

We went with some friends to the Crayola Factory, it was fun to be with our friends. But it's not really a factory anymore, so I was a little disappointed. It did have hours and hours of craft projects for the kids. They loved it.

Gavin still has to have his bunny. Luckly he doesn't always have to have it with him only when we are missing nap time.

The wildest thing happen, we were just cruising down Walmarts isles and the kids and I spotted this huge beautiful moth. It's poor leg was broken and couldn't fly far. So we decided to buy a little container and take it home. I wonder what a moth was doing at Walmart.

I sometimes just don't know what to do with her. I can't believe she did this. She ask me at 5pm for Ice cream, I said NO super is going to be in a half an hour.
So you won't believe what she does. We were all playing outside and J.R. was downstairs on the computer. All of a sudden She ran in to the house and locked all of the doors on top of that she lock the downstairs door. Locking dad downstairs and the rest of outside. When she finally let us in, she pretended like nothing was up. Later I found out that she had eaten all of our ice cream sandwiches. I can't believe a 5 year old would think of locking us out so she could get into our freezer and eat ice cream. I'm terrifed for her to become a teenager!

Memorial Parade

Memorial Day was so fun, first we went to our little towns parade. We ment up with some of our best buds. Then we went to some other friends house for a wonderful baraque. Karlie Nathan and Gavin had a blast. Nathan for awhile was a little bit of a mopper, and Gavin keep putting the ball on the cone to hit it. The day couldn't have gone any better, it was prefect.

Preschool Graduation

A super sad day for me, but an exciting one for Karlie and Nathan. I'm so sad that this is Karlie's last year in preschool. I'm going to miss taking her, granted kindergarten is just 3 hours. It just seems that my baby is finally grown up.
The preschool graduation was so cute, they sang about 5 songs, and did one in sign language which is Karlies favorite second language. They also had game areas for each of the kid to have fun at, like make necklaces, bean bag toss etc... They had so much fun. Nathan already can't wait until next year.

This year was the best Mother's Day. Karlie has been waiting for this day for a couple of months. She kept bugging her dad to take her to the store to buy me something. She also planned me breakfast all by herself. She picked out the flowers all by herself too. She told me that she got these because she knew I like all flowers and all colors of the rainbow. How right she was.

It was so fun, we usually only get a couple of inches that last a day or two then melt away and only a couple of times in the winter. But this year was so fun, we got the tons of snow (only two feet, those of you from the Midwest and west are probably laughing right now) but it's the most we have had since 1850. We enjoy every minute of it, along with some friends.

Oh and what a one year old. He's more like a three year. He loves to do everything himself, I can't help him with anything. He even knows how to push a chair up and climb up onto my counter and help him self to crackers. He feeds himself and can say 17 words. And boy can he run, he reminds me like Karlie, he laughs at you then runs as fast as he can.

The day started with a preschool party...then went to a big costume parade at the outlets, which after the parade we went trick or treating at the outlets. I was kind of sad that the Chocolate Factory had closed, they always gave out the best things, last year is was a chocolate covered banana's with nuts and carmel...hmmmm..mmm. But they still got allot of candy. Then we were going to go to are churchs trunk or treat, but my kids were feeling good. But we did finish it up with trick or treating around our nieghborhood.

Karlie had a great Big Birthday Party. We had our annual Costume Party Theme.
The kids played pass the pumpkin, find the eye ball, they did the cha-cha-cha, and the best part was decorating cookies. They loved that.

The grocery stores have the kids come trick or treating there, with crafts, and cake/ice cream. This is what they wore to our grocery. It was so fun. The Library also throws a big halloween bash, but we were to tired to go. We also have two trunk or treats, one with our church and one in the community. We were all trick or treated out by the time the end of the month came. And still even more parties. I'll post those pics later

Howell Living Farm

We had the opportunity to go to the Howell living Farm, it's a farm that run as if it were the early 1900's.
It was a fun for my kids, but the best part was that they got to dig up potatoes for the local food bank. They loved doing service.

I love how kids are so imaginative, but pushing them in boxes down a hill, sure did a number on my back. But they sure did have a blast so it was worth it.

Water Park Fun!!

J.R. helped out at a camp this year so he was given some water park tickets for thanks. We had such a blast, the best part to was the water was heated, so it was always warm. Nathan and Karlie loved it, they even went down the big slides that I was a little nervous to go on. Karlie meant an boy and Nathan meant a girl and spilt from each other. I was a little weirded out( they're to young :() and a little oh that's so cute. Karlie even held hands with the boy and went down water slides with him. Nathan did the same thing, but mostly him and the girl played on tire swing together, and Nathan would push them. Gavin even had fun playing in the water.
We are going to have to save up and go again next year.

This year we wasn't able to go camping. But we still wanted to roast those Hot Dogs and Smores at least once this year. So we just drove about 10mins to Round Valley and had ourselves roast, but without the sleeping over. Yeah!

Nathan's Fish Party

The fish party turned out great! We had swimming, slip n' slides, games and fun!
Nathan enjoyed it. He has been waiting forever to be three so he can be a big kid.

We played, duck, duck, fish and red light green light jumping big water balloon games. The kids loved it. I love seeing them all having fun.

I'm so behind. He's now 8 months old. He now has 6 teeth, and a little more hair.
He's such a happy boy, the ward and nieghborhood nicknames him happy. He doesn't ever cry, just high pitch screams when he's really happy. Gavin also takes after Karlie and is on the move early. Crawls everywhere, loves the toilet the best.

History Muesum in New York

I love living in a country setting but also being so close to New York. In May (I'm so behind) J.R. had a saturday off Yeah!(it only happens once a month if we are lucky). We drove up to New York and got a chance to go to the history muesum. My kids loved it.

My thoughtful husband made me a birthday cake and the kids decorated it. But this isn't just a normal birthday cake. He actually made it from scratch using, beets, carrots, squash, bananas etc... It actually was good and super healthy using mostly all veggies and fruit no sugar, it was more like a brownie though, but it still was great. He also got me a spa visit. I don't know what got into him. But the day couldn't have been better.

I just can't keep up with her lately. Today I woke up and went downstairs and Karlie had woke up early (she usually comes and gets me up, she's my little alarm clock)and had decorated my whole front room with my brand new wrapping paper. She even got into the scissors and tape drawer (the little climber) and had beautiful cut out designs all over my walls and floor. When I ask her what she was doing up so early.

Boy, everyday Karlie keeps amazing me....
Today I was doing some more never ending laundry, when I came upstairs she was covered in marker drawings, all over her body and I mean head to toe.
She told me

Mom, I have Native American skin pictures all over me, just like the ones in the History Museum we went too.

Once again, I couldn't get mad... just sign...I'm so glad we have nothing planned to go anywhere today.

I was downstairs doing some laundry, when I heard some water. I thought it was the kitchen sink, and they were maybe water the plants outside. So I figured I would throw another load in the washer and then head up stairs to see what they were up to.
When I came up the stairs I almost died!! They had brought in the hose from outside in with the sprayer on, and the water up full blast. I saw my kitchen soaked and they had just started water down the front room and Gavins toys.
After I ran outside and turned off the water. I asked them what they were doing.

Karlie said, Just helping you clean Mom, I thought it would be faster this way, since you clean the porch like this, then you can come sooner outside and play with us.

Karlie's Fish Story

I ask her about her picture,
she said "there's daddy fish, mommy fish, brother fish, sister fish and baby fish".
Oh, like our family,
she said, "Yes, just like our family, and the sister fish is sad."
So I thought oh she must be trying to let me something. Why is sister fish so sad?
"Because she can't hold baby fish".
Why not?
"Duh, fish don't have arms mom!"
So, I didn't get anywhere, maybe next time.

Visiting the Benson's

The whole reason we went to Utah was to see J.R.'s mom, who a few months ago got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. J.R. got to spend almost everyday helping her, and talking with her, that was great for him. We also got to spend a couple hours a day with her. She actually looked a little better by the end of our trip. But she still was in allot of pain.

Great Grandpa Darley's Farm

While we were in Utah, we went to my grandpa Darleys sort of farm. He has a fish hatchery and pond in which he raises trout, and fields (where cows once roamed) now my cousins horse does.
